Ein sehr spannendes Buch! Obwohl Popper den Begriff 'Historismus' nie richtig erläutert oder definiert, so bekommt man durch die Auseinandersetzung damit doch ein recht gutes Gefühl dafür, worum es geht (Am ehesten könnte man Historismus als 'Irrglaube von der geschichtlichen Notwendigkeit' sehen). Seine Kritik bezieht sich zwar hauptsächlich auf Hegel und Marx aber Konzepte wie die Kondratieff-Zyklen, Wirtschaftsprognosen oder alle 'Patterns' (S.2) erscheinen fragwürdig nach der Lektüre. Natürlich ist das Buch eine - typisch Popper - theoretische Abhandlung. Praktische Beispiele oder Ratschläge sucht man vergeblich, aber das ist nicht das Ziel.Das fast vergessene Werk von 1964 ist nichts weniger als der Nachweis, dass der Fortschritt nicht mit den Theorien der Physik oder anderer Wissenschaften prognostiziert werden kann. Und das liegt am Wissen: "Wenn es so etwas wie ein wachsendes menschliches Wissen gibt, dann können wir nicht heute das vorwegnehmen, was wir erst morgen wissen werden." (S.XII)
